Student Doctor and B6 Alumni Member, Dr Tom Proctor, Visits B6

Last week, B6 Alumni member and former Outwood Academy Hindley student, Dr Tom Proctor visited us at B6 to speak to a group of aspiring medics about his experience of applying for, studying and working in Medicine.

Dr Proctor delivered an invaluable session. He spoke to the group about the importance of gaining work experience and how it’s essential to focus on the experiences you’ve had and the reflections you’ve made from any placement.

The students were given some fantastic guidance on writing their personal statements with Dr Proctor encouraging them to outline what studying and then working in Medicine would mean to them. He also said it’s really important to show that you’re a whole person and explore what would give you purpose and passion outside of medicine.

Dr Proctor spoke about his experiences of the interview process for Medicine and gave the aspiring medics some fantastic tips for this stage of the application process.

The session was really beneficial to our students and his realistic insights of working life were great for the group to hear. Jill Whitham, Head of Careers and Employability at B6 really appreciated Dr Proctor’s visit and said:
