Tucanos, a band formed at The Sixth Form Bolton are excited to have been chosen to compete at Bolton Music service's Battle of the Bands' event.
Alice Kerfoot, a former Ellesmere Park High School student; Ash Campion and William Broome, former St James School students; Freya Warr, a former Westhoughton High School student; Marshall McGuinness, a former Ladybridge High School student and Gabriel Ferreira Rezende De Souza are all second-year music students at The Sixth Form. They regularly perform together at campus events such as open events and open-mic sessions. The band’s name, Tucanos, is Portuguese for Toucans.
Bolton Music service’s Battle of the Bands’ event, which takes place on Tuesday 3 February 2026, provides talented rock and pop students from across Bolton, Blackburn and Darwen the chance to perform.
The winning band, chosen by the adjudicator, will play at the iconic Band on the Wall, in Manchester, as part of the GM Music Hub Rock and Pop showcase on Sunday 1 March.
The band, who specialise in cover performances and count George Michael’s “Faith” as their favourite song to perform, are excited to take to the stage. Alice Kerfoot who studies A Level English Literature, and Film Studies alongside her Level 3 Vocational Music Performance said:
"We are all really excited to take part in this year's Battle of the Bands, and we are grateful to our tutor Matthew for providing us with this opportunity. It will be a great night with loads of amazing bands, and we can't wait to be one of them."

"Tucanos are a great bunch of students, who have shown great creativity and enthusiasm in developing their sound. Being selected for Bolton Music Service’s Battle of the Bands is a well-deserved opportunity, and I’m excited to see them represent the college and showcase their talent on stage.”
