The Sixth Form Bolton is celebrating the remarkable success of students who have achieved exceptional GCSE English and Maths results.
Students have shown incredible resilience, studying GCSEs alongside their main study programmes, securing life-changing qualifications to support their future career progression.
This year’s November resit results of 64% pass rate in English and 41% pass rate in Mathematics is a tremendous achievement and one that is significantly above the national benchmark for colleges and Sixth Forms in the country. November GCSE resits are available for those students who had previously not yet achieved a grade 4 or above.
A Level student Cami Wong is celebrating double success after achieving an astonishing grade 7 in her English Language and an exceptional grade 8 in Mathematics. Cami joined The Sixth Form having only just moved to the country from Hong Kong. Arriving with no formal qualifications, Cami missed the opportunity to sit any GCSE exams in her home country or in the UK.
Realising her potential, The Sixth Form welcomed Cami onto A Level Fine Art, Graphic Design and Sociology, alongside GCSE English and Mathematics. After only just two months of lessons, Cami sat the exams for the first time in November and achieved the A-A* grade equivalents.
The 17-year student said,
“I am really grateful for the opportunity and support I have received. My teachers have been amazing; setting and marking extra work so I could catch-up and sit the exams. I was really nervous, however I worked really hard. I’m over the moon with my results. It means I can now progress onto university and study art further. I love my subjects, especially Graphic Design and Fine Art. I have really enjoyed my time at The Sixth Form and I feel really welcomed. I love how in the UK you have the freedom to choose your own path and study the subjects that you are passionate about.””
Julie Parkinson, Head of English at The Sixth Form Bolton said,
“We are extremely proud of all of our students and staff for these excellent results. The Sixth Form Bolton supports learners to achieve the critical grades needed to progress onto their chosen destination and secure career opportunities in the future”.
For many years, The Sixth Form Bolton has produced consistently high-performing results in GCSE English and Maths, and the latest results recognise the significant progress students make during their time at The Sixth Form.
